Optomap
The eye doctors at Corinth Eye Clinic and Weeden Eye Clinic recommend patients of all ages get an Optomap retinal exam during the eye and vision exam or pediatric eye exam.
The Optomap retinal exam is a digital image of the retina produced by Optos scanning laser technology. It is the only technology that can capture 82% view of your retina at one time.
Optical Coherence Tomography
Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is a non-invasive diagnostic test that uses light waves to create detailed images of the layers of the retina and other structures in the eye. These images will help your eye doctor diagnose, manage, or treat many different eye diseases and conditions.
Neurolens
Are you experiencing regular eye strain, headaches, or neck pain? These symptoms may be due to eye misalignment, also known as binocular vision disorder (BVD). When your eyes are misaligned, it can lead to trigeminal dysphoria, a condition caused by stress on the trigeminal nerve in the brain. The increasing use of digital devices including computers, tablets, and phones can exacerbate this condition.
Electroretinography and Visual Evoked Potential Testing
Electroretinography (ERG) and Visual evoked potential (VEP) are two tests used to evaluate the function of the retina, the part of the eye responsible for sensing light and sending visual signals to the brain. These tests may be performed during your eye and vision exam, and they are non-invasive, painless, and safe.
Antioxidant Scan
Antioxidants are important for eye health because they help protect the eyes from oxidative stress, which is caused by harmful molecules known as free radicals. Free radicals can damage cells in the eyes, leading to various eye conditions, including age-related macular degeneration (AMD), cataracts, and glaucoma.
Visual Field Testing
Visual field testing is essential to detect any blind spots or vision loss that may have occurred due to eye diseases. It helps us determine if there are any scotomas or blind spots in your visual field and pinpoint their location. Additionally, the size and shape of the blind spot can reveal how an eye disease or brain disorder is impacting your vision. For instance, if you have glaucoma, visual field testing will reveal any peripheral vision loss caused by the disease.
YAG Laser Procedure
Posterior capsule opacification (PCO) is a common condition that can occur after cataract surgery. It happens when the back part of the lens capsule, which was left in the eye during the surgery to hold the artificial lens in place, becomes cloudy or thickened. This can cause blurred vision, glare, or difficulty seeing in low-light conditions. The good news is that PCO is easily treatable with a quick and painless procedure called a YAG laser capsulotomy.
